Thanks for stopping by Barbara !
Too bad about your pics, I'd love to see them !
About the corys....yeah, I have some in a sand substrate and they are fantastic bottom cleaners ! I think the word you were looking for is "sift" rather than "chew" the sand. Chewing gives the impression that they "eat" the sand...."sifting" means that they take the sand into thier mouths....picking out any food bits and then spit the sand back out. If you picture an archeologist "sifting" the dirt with a screen in order to find small artifacts....you'll get an idea of what the word "sift" means.
About fake plants being frowned upon...I can understand that, however...with proper filtration and maintenance, a tank with fake plants can be just as healthy as a tank with live plants....and lots easier to care for. I have both planted tanks and tanks with fake plants and the ones with the fake plants give me so much less trouble than the planted....though I definitely enjoy the planted tanks much more.
I'm guessing that most folks at your forum are very helpful and love to share the hobby with others as much as anyone else here who frequents this forum...but as anywhere else one may go...there are usually those who enjoy putting others down and being general pains....lol....we have some of those here too !
Hello Sumo, yeah, that plant hasn't been in that aquarium for too long. Sprouted from the bulb a few weeks ago. Pretty little thing !
