This is one of my 6 amano shrimp that live in my ram tank.

Very cool... I've been thinking about keeping rams myself with my amano shrimp, do you find that the rams chase after/eat those shrimp? or are the shrimp smart enough to hide/get away from them?

I've been wanting some amano shrimp, but I can't find any. Did you get them from a LFS? My LFS only has ghost shrimp and they are jam-packed w/ feeder guppies. I have been hesitant to get those. Oh yeah, have yours bred or anything?...or do they even do that in a tank?

My rams have never shown an interest in the shrimp. but my shirmp are over 1" and the rams are only just a bit bigger.

I bought them a a few different LFS in my area for between 3-4$ each. I haven't noticed if they realy eat algae as i dont' see a decline in the algae in my tank.

I haven't had them breed, I think one once had eggs or somethign under her tail.

my apistos never ever bother the amano shrimp in my tank. i have 3 shrimp and they hide out behind a little log all day. i also have never seen em munch on algae. ive seen em go for color bits and bloodworms but dont really make much of an impqact on the algae levels.

Where you get Amano Shrimp in Edmonton? I could tell my dad where he could get some. I'm sure he'd like the idea and it would liven up his tank.
He usually goes to PJ's on Calgary Trail.

The Big Al's near costco used to have some (that where I got a large majority of mine), also DAD's fishroom near whyte ave. has them as well (at least it did the last time i was there). Keep in mind, I haven't had much time to spend on this hobby, so my info could be off somewhat.

I got mine from big al's(had then for 2.194 or soemthign close ot that) it has been the cheapest. I got some at dad's fishroom and at aquarium illusions.

Tell your dad instead of going to PJ's pets to go to big al's which is the next street over. Its has more selections and way better quality, plus the guy that works the fish section knows his stuff(micheal)

I mentioned to him that he should go to BigAl's, but I thought the nearest one was in Calgary. I didn't even know there was one in Edmonton. He will be happy now. :)
Thanks for the info guys.
