I am thinking of starting a pico reef to keep a few frags such as button polyps and mushrooms. The tank is 2 gal and i have a 18 watt coralife mini light on it with 9 watts 50/50 actinics and 9 watts 6400K white light. I have 5 lbs of live rock already cured and an elite filter and am picking up a (perhaps 50 watt) heater this coming week. I will do water changes using the same water from my big tank. Does this project sound like a good idea? Is the lighting enough? What else do i need? I am new to the pico reef world but really want to attempt it for frags. Any help will be appreciated. If you have pics of a current small reef like this i would like to see pics to get ideas. Cheers!

I'd get 2 25 wat heaters vs one 50 wat. You should also get an auto top off system so as to assure that your s.q. doesn't get out of whack too fast! FWIW I'd probably get a larger set up for growing frags it would be much more stable. I'm not trying to discourage you though I say this to everyone ;)

thanks max, i was thinking of going larger but finances are tight so this will have to do for now. Auto top off is a good idea, i will look into it, thanks mate!
