Pictorial betta spawning log-discussion thread

how likely are problems from breeding siblings? are fish much less likely to get deformities down the line or is it a matter of ruthlessly culling any fry with visible problems?

How are your fry doing Mighty Queen??? Inquiring minds want to know?? LOL

Are they big enough yet to show up in a picture? This really is a fun thread to follow.

Ill try and catch one on film tomorrow...Fruit flies would like like giants next to these guys...Not as big of a spawn as I had enticipated...I think Daddy got a little over-zealous with the fry gargling...He is one sad looking guy the past few days...Blew himself a big nest and watches it constantly for fry...Atleast I know he is a good dad...raising eggs without one is nearly impossible...He may come in handy in the future for being a "surrogate Daddy" Some males can be substituted to raise anothers eggs if the paternal father is an egg eater...Did I mention that they never cease to amaze me??? :)

Awsome!!!! Those are some pretty good pics, I know how hard they are to take pics of!!!

Can we all give a collective "AAAwwwww!!!" So darn cute!
Thanks Mighty Queen. I had no ideal they are THAT tiny. Amazing!
I think you did a fine job taking their pics..we can see them and as tiny as they seem that's a miracle! LOL

How goes the fry Mighty Queen??? I was talking to a kid who works at the lfs and he is just getting in to breeding betta's. He bought his first breeding pair and has converted his basement over into a betta barracks. I thought of you of course! LOL

How fast do the fry grow? Do they show any color at the age they are now? Just curious.
