I just took your avatar into photoshop and it's not even the full pixel width it can be. This is how big your avatar could be.

I made it that size because if I brought it full sizw it would look more ugly cause of the pixelation

^ Then get a higher res pic to start with. Then bring it down in photoshop to 72 dpi and 150 x 150 pixels.
