I was just given a spotted pictus cat from a friend who's pretty much done with fish and trying to rehouse everything. (I am very interested to see what he's going to do with his 90 gallon tank.. let's just say i'm looking to make way for it just in case)

Anyway, just had a couple questions..

1) Right Now he's in a 38 gallon tank with 10 rummies, 6 panda cories, a betta, and a mystery snail. I've had him for 3 days now, and he sure does eat more than i've ever seen a fish eat. He mainly hangs out in this long open hole in a rock, and he'll take a dash out every now and then, and then return to his cave. Hasn't seemed to bother anyone yet but i have noticed that he knocked over the mystery snail, but didnt go after it. So how does the pictus fit in with my stocking?

2) Is it okay to leave him alone, or should i get 1 or 2 more? I've read some websites and they pretty much said it didnt matter, but i've learned not to trust the websites.

3) Any additional info would be great?

I have just one pictus in my mixed african tank and he is fine, holds his own well at feeding time and lives in one corner of the tank, if anyone bothers him he justs goes mental and they leave him alone after that. They are very active fish unless they have a full stomach, then they just loaf around for a bit before buzzing around everywhere again. Some do say they are better in groups but i've had mine around 4 years on his own withough any problems

From what I read, they're good non-aggressive community fish, get to about 5" long, and are somewhat particular about water quality.
