pictus cat trouble

well I have one and he chases one of the dominate fish in their but only cause he goes into the catfishes cave but other than that i have no trouble with mine.

Are you having trouble with yours being aggressive towards your other fish ???

I had one and it would attack both of my ropefish all the time. Ended up ripping a fin off of the poor guy. I quickly sold the pictus cat to someone else and good riddance. I bought myself some nonaggresive cories instead and couldnt be happier.

I've kept them for years but honestly have never had them in a tank with anything but big mean tough fish. They are territorial as can be, and need lots of hiding places as well. If you ropefish got too close too often I could picture it being a victim. Won't a ropefish try to eat a cory when it grows up?

I've had 2 Pictus in the tank for the past 5 months. Check my sig. for tankmates. They are territorial - one is in a cave and the other is behind a rock in one corner of the tank. However, the only thing they do when another fish is in their territory is a quick little chase or a bump with the side of the body as they turn around quickly with much irritation. I've never seen them nip anyone. You could classify them as aggressive because they do stake out a territory and run other fish out of it, however they never injure anyone. So, they don't keep to themselves like a Cory, but they are not mean-aggressive like many Cichlids. I would rate them on the same aggresive scale as my Clown Loaches (if you can call a Clown aggressive).

nope, no problems, I dont have any... but I was thinking about getting one but now I do not believe I will thanks for the honest feed back. Its tank mates would have been clown loaches congo tetras silver dollar blue rams pleco

I have 3 in a 210G. They each have a territory under a large piece of dtiftwood I have. They will seemingly take turns running into the other ones territory to create a ruckus. That lasts a minute or two then they each go back to their own. Very little if not any activity during the day. I assume they eat since they have been alive for 6 months but I havent seen it...

Sneak into the room at 2 AM and flip the lights on, enjoy the flurry of white moving at 100 miles per hour.
