I got to watching a friends pictus catfish the other day and thought what a cool fish. What would happen if I was to drop 3 or 4 of them in to my convict tank, or am I better off sticking to plecos ???
I'm not talking about the 40g breeder in my sig, I have a 29g with 2 cons and 1 common pleco, which I will be loosing to the LFS for a bussynose. Will the pictus be ok, or not.

You could do it if u had alot bigger tank.I had a fourlined pictus with my con.I still have my pictus accept he is about 8 inches long if you want 3 or 4 pictus cats ur gonna need a 90+ for them

The spotted pictus stay a bit smaller, at about 4-5". However, they are extrememyl active fish (think zebra danio) and do best in groups. I have them in with my oscar and severums and they do very well, but its a 150gal tank so they have lots of room to swim.

it would be possible in a larger tank with more hiding places and room for the pictus to escape from the cons' aggression, but i think a 29 is too small for the pictus to be able to escape.
