Pictus pair ok, or need more?

I have two pictus catfish that are fairly active, especially since my plecos have been removed from the tank. Question is, are they "happier" in a larger group, or is a pair good enough company?

I believe pictus like to be in groups. I could be wrong on this.

Mine were more active when I had 4 than they are now with only 2.

I would also recommend having them in a group. I have four picture and 3 P. blochii together in my 150. Keep in mind they are very active for catfish.

Do they need a lot of "floor space"? I'm wondering if I need to get rid of some of the decor if I add more pictus. I've got several pieces of driftwood, caves, etc and I think I read somewhere that pictus need space to swim freely. Is that correct?
