Pictus

my pictus 6" gets along ok with my small cories 3" if they get in his way he just swims a little more violently to "move" them out of the way....he doiesnt "attack" them...now he will eat anything he can fit in his mouth though so becarefull of small fish like 1.5"

That's good to know. The smallest fish that will be with them is around 2.5".

....do you think they would be able to catch a guppy?:D There is always 2 or 3 I can't catch, and after about a month those 2 or 3 turn back into 20.

A pictus is more of an opportunist than a die hard predator, if he is well fed and your fish aren't really small, he'll leave them alone. If he isn't well fed he will pick them off at night. but even then he will have to be very hungry to mess with anything bigger than a juvenile guppy. Feed him bottom feeder wafers and he'll be fine. mine scavenges everything that falls past the cichlids and gets his wafers and some brine shrimp now and then and he never goes after the feeder guppies which are pretty small. If his nly option was feeders, I'm sure he would do fine as well though.

pictus cats are great fish some of my favorites. i have two in my tank (about 3" each) and they don't even bother the ghost shrimp i've got. i agree that if they stay well fed they are a very good comunity catfish. mine never mess with any of my other fish.
