pink and blue tetras, is that fake color?

i never knew there was such a thing untill before, i read an article about glowing fish,
they are injected with "what ever" to make them glow green, and all i could think was .... Then it went on to give instructions on how to do this to tetras and other fish so the light went off in my head.

there are fish called glo-fish that do glow in the dark under a black light they are zebra danios that have a jellyfish gene that was added to their dna. They are not artificially died but born that way. I have 6 2red 2orange and 2green awesome fish under a blacklight!

i think you are both right. while there are the true genetically engineered Glo-fish, i have also heard of an artificially colored "black market" version. needless to say, they're cheaper than the real Glo-fish.

In my store we will not sell injected/dyed fish. We do sell Glo-Fish. The first thing I did when we started to sell them is to do research so that I knew what I was selling. They do have their own web site as well and they are a patented fish. Which is one of the reason they are so expensive. When people look at them I explain to them about the Glo-Fish, most people are relieved when they hear the story about them. I have seen dyed or personalized fish at a really big expensive store in the Chicago area and I was really disappointed that they would sell the fish. Then the personalized fish you would think that they are doing it themselves. Not sure but makes you wonder. Not all parrot fish are dyed. The blood parrot is not dyed but the jelly bean ones are. Years ago I almost bought one that was a bright blue until our friend who owns a pet shop told us that it was injected. That ended that one.
