LFS has pink peacock cichlids that I like a lot but I think they are actually something else.

Well I can't tell how big the tank is really. My wife already grabbed 2 females so I might have to return them. I'll post my length, height, width later so some of u might know how big it is. She also got 6 bronze corydoras, are they gonna be okay with the cichlids? If not, I have other tank space for the cories. To check out my tank look at the thread called 20 gallon triangle tank.
Hmm. My convicts upstairs don't mess with the bronze cories in their tank so I'm hoping these fish won't either. They are in the tank now. 6 bronze corydoras, 2 strawberry peacocks, and some MTS. Also got some new plants if you could ID them. There's this one floating plant that would be much better suited for a tank without a hood (I have a 10 gallon sitting outside...got ideas? I got maybe put it in there and make a nanopond of some kind??) Let me know what you think of these pics. I know the peacocks will want some caves and I'm working on building some now.
I'm sorry to tell you this, but these will be more aggressive to cories than cons. On top of that, cories prefer lots of open floor space, while the peacocks prefer a rockier haitat.
So hold on a minute? These could be mixed with my convicts?? Any info on the plants? I was thinking of making some caves with slate-type rock so most of the tank will have rocky area for them to hang out in. If this was your tank and you had the fish that I have, how would you set it up?
I would not mix the peacocks with convicts. That tank is way too small for them. Though not a very aggressive african cichlid, they are an african cichlid, and they are aggressive. I would not keep peacocks in a tank less than 4' long. They won't stay small for long either.
My peacocks are also hard on my plants. They're kinder to plants than mbuna, but that's not saying a lot. They have nipped all the leaves off 4 of my crinum plants at the base. They have shredded swords and dug up my sag. Bit off all of my vals. I've witnessed them swimming by the plants and biting them. Those plants you have in there don't stand much of a chance. They may be ok for a little while (my fish didn't turn into total plant jerks til they started hitting 3") but my experience with much hardier plants than you have has not been positive.
Alright. You guys definitely are the experts. Within a few hours I noticed the peacocks nipping at the corydoras and despite my wife's whines that it could wait until tomorrow, I moved the corydoras to the 40G with the convicts, tiger barbs, and six other corydoras. Is that too many corydoras in that tank now?
Also since the peacocks will outgrow the tank, kill tankmates, and eat plants....I'll return them to the LFS. As far as this tank what are your recommendations for inhabitants? Are yellow labs nicer? I love cichlids and medium sized fish and am not a fan of guppies, neons, and other tiny fish that seem to die so easily.
