Pirahna Feeding

I love ebaumsworld!! That site is chalk full of controversial stuff!! I too saw that yesterday. And yes piranhas can live in conditions like that. You could even keep a full grown one in a ten gallon. The question is how long will they live like that?

I guess this a sarcastic answer. Really, I think those fish need huge filtration along with a huge tank.

A few months ago some 10 year old kid caught a piranha in the Susquehanna river near my home. Apparently someone owned the fish, decided it was too big to keep anymore, knocked out its front teeth and released it into the wild. The average temperature in the river is roughly 50-60 degrees farenheit. So yes, they can survive quite poor conditions. (the kid caught the thing on a worm.)

Vampire tetras in schools?!? :thud: I cant imagine being caught in a feeding frenzy with a bunch of them. Do they have any natural predators?

i seen a mouse get eaten by pirahnas before real life.. my friend use to have pirahnas and to save his money, he breed mouse for food.. ya it wasnt pretty... poor mouse swimming with half of its body..

Theres a movie of that going around on the net. I can tolerate a lot of things, but I really didn't approve of this one.

Thanks reziztor, I enjoyed that.

Why would you feed a piranha a mouse? Feed it something far more eithical, like turkey heart. Far less fatening than beef heart.

Yeah, I saw that vid of piranha vs. mouse. Very disturbing footage...
