Piranha

Eventually 2-3 will need that 75g or larger. A 29g would be a good size for the first 6 months or so....it is just an option of if you can afford to upgrade later. I bought my 29g knowing that they needed to be moved from the ten, but at the time, I could not afford to get a big tank. I love these guys and do not plan on giving them up. So, a 29g would be fine for the first 6 months or so. My pair are in a 29g and they are doing fine but I know they will be moved to a 125g with some caribes soon...75g for a pair should suffice, and maybe even for three, but that is what I consider the min size for a pair or maybe three. Also, cleaning their tank has never been a problem for me. At first I was neverous cleaning their tanks and thought about using a divider, but then I saw how neverous and shy they are, and this will not change anytime fast. It has taken them 6 months to warm up to me. They now come out of their cave to eat beefheart with lights on and I'm right in front of the tank. I constantly just move plants that were knocked around with my hand....Even right next to them...But that took a while for me to realize, and I still keep an eye on them to be sure, cuz you never know.

Phycha, if there was any sense in that LFS, they would know the dangers of feeding mice\rats to piranhas. Besides the fact that blood fills the water, and fur clogs your filters, and that much toxins released into the water will mess with the bio-load.....rats\mice can scratch and bite fish b4 being killed. When I see people with blacks\super reds\caribes missing eyes or have deep scratches, I can only laugh when I hear that they just fed it w\o researching the negatives...
