Pir's Carnivores (Pic Heavy)

Think I'm going to place an order with Cook's Carnivores (flytrapshop) tonight. Seems like a good use for Christmas money. What I plan to order:

1 Ceph
1 N. fusca
1 N. spathulata x glabrata
1 N. truncata
4 VFT's (1 free with every $20 spent)

They are on their way! Or at least, I ordered them. Hopefully they'll arrive sometime this week. I am practically bubbling with excitement.

Some bad news though: My one ventrata plant fell, the plastic pot cracked and the soil got everywhere. That wasn't a huge deal, but the nice plantlet that had grown from it broke off. I stuck the plantlet in sphagnum; hopefully it will take root.

Sounds like a cool order! What you're experiencing is the CP version of MTS.

For shopping, I tend to go with cobraplant.com and blackjungle.com. This guy has amazing plants, but is also a bit more expensive for it.

With the ceph, remember that humidity/wetness is your enemy. They are prone to fungus/mold if not properly ventilated, and don't water the crown of the plant as it's prone to rot. Other than that, I've found them to be bullet proof.

Good luck with them!

So with the Ceph, water from the top but don't get the actual plant wet? Or would it be better to submerge the pot 3/4 in water for a couple minutes and then let it drain?

I've always top watered mine. I have them sitting in a wide tray, so I water until some starts to drain out. I let them sit in that little bit of water until they soak it up. Let them go a few days, then do it again. A lot of it depends on your environment.

Longest weekend ever?
