pittsburgh pa

well as you know i'm in Beaver County 20 minutes from the pittsburgh in. airport. i use elmers for supplies only once and a while, it over a hour from me , i only go there when i sell them my cherry shrimp, they only take 30 at a time, they put them in their own tank, the only thing good is they have separate tanks with sponge filters and there isn't mixing of water, so if one tank is affected with something the others should be free of it.. all stores have a outbreak of something some time or other, but the last few timesi was there they were kinda bad but they just came in and were all icked up..

I liked(bought all) the used tanks at Elmers years ago. Haven't been there in a while. I have been calling alot of shops looking for a male cherry shrimp. I called Rick at Aquatic Gardens in Beaver Falls and he didnt even know what a cherry shrimp is. I figure I will give him a few if I ever find a male red cherry shrimp. I have 4 female shrimp and they are driving me crazy. They are such wierd bugs.

I am by the Airport. I am at Robison 3 times a week to take my Mother to kidney dialisys and go to Petland alot. I am looking for a nice petshop that is on this side of Greentree hill.

There is a 55 gallon on craigslist for 25 bucks listed last night. I feel like a junky."It will be ok because its cheap" and reason saying "You know what happens when you start this crap". Someone save me from temptation and buy that tank.

I love to trade though I have blue green algae and hydra. I have a friend with a large pleco (8in ?) that needs a good home.

if you want cherry's i have sold them to elmers but they want a price for them , i sure didn't get that much, and all they did was have me bring them in, wow, so much work, they dumped them in the tank, that worth a lot,..:grinyes:
if they lowered the price and then stocked a lot they would sell more, most of the guys around here in beaver county don't know jack about fish let alone shrimp i tried to sell them some cause no one can find then around and they wont budge, the store in robinson wont buy them, so heck with him, people want them, and the stores have no clue about them and don't care, ..

I got to petland a lot too, never bought anything from them.

I saw that 55 on craigslist too! I don't have the space for another tank but man I want to get it :D

You should really check out WetPets http://www.wetpetsandfriends.com/ I don't know what they do about trading fish in and all that but they are a really good store, the manager is really nice. And the fish always seem healthy. I feel bad for them because I think because of their location not many people go there, its kind of a trek, but its such a nice store.

you know seeing all the people from the burgh area you should all join the gpasi its the greater pittsburgh aquarist sociaty inc its 20 a year and it would be great to meet some new faces in the pittsburgh area that like fish as well

I was going to join that one but its only freshwater and I'm more into saltwater. The pmasi also has some very high up people in the marine world (at least one of the guys is on WWM) It also looks like the gpasi has some connection to Elmers, and I don't really want to support that store, when I was there absolutely none of the workers asked if I needed help and the sw section looked terrible. Maybe it was just a bad week but I don't want to support a store that will have sw but not take proper care of them.

I think I will just stick with pmasi, since I don't really have fw fish other than bettas.
