pl*co

Perhaps the * should not be left out, but actually spelled out. Then we could have some really cool <cough> names like Plasteriskcostomus, Neon Tetrasterisk, Corydorasterisk, Arowanasterisk and the Large and Small Mouthed Bassterisk!
LOVE IT!

:hitting: Guess that means you haven't changed how you feel about this in 6 years, huh!

Yeah, not so much. I think the superstition was kind of funny and kind of sad, but it's outlived its usefulness, as we're keeping a lot of plecs without incident. Of them, only otos and a select few others seem to do poorly at the hands of those who really know what they're doing and practice it well. It also helps that lots of the ones in the hobby are captive-bred, LOL.

i know planet catfish uses this because not all loricarids are plecos (otos are loricarids, but they are not technically a pleco). i read this somewhere on their forum. ive seen this in regards to cichlids as well

as for summoning up pleco demons by not using the asterisk, i now have a valid reason as to why my L239 is so fragile (hes darn near died twice); obviously hes been possessed and his illnesses are due to the demons that are plaguing him since i dont regularly use the asterisk.
