I'm setting up a 36 inch long, 33 gal tank. I am putting two HOB filters on it and was wondering where the best placement of the filters would be? I know on the back, but where in conjunction to each other? lol
Many thanks in advance.

Place them at opposite sides, say about 1.5 feet from each other. This should help with keeping both sides circulated and aerated.

I just thought of something,....would the plants that I am planting on the one side of tank be bothered by the current of having the filters placed as you suggested? I could turn one of the pumps down so the flow is less, or should I place the one pump perhaps closer towards the middle area instead, in this case?
Many thanks again!

Most filters have adjustment for rate of flow.Tank can`t be very tall you should plenty of flow.I just go with a very gentle circulation.

it depends on the plants that you plan to have under or near the output flow of the filter. i have a huge amazon sword half under the flow from an Aquaclear 110 set to full flow, and it is thriving like you wouldn't believe. i also keep my water level down an inch or so to help with oxygenation, which creates more surface disruption. my plants flow like they would in a not too lazy river, lol.

tough plants would do well planted near the output, whereas more flimsy stem plants or floating plants would want a fairly still area to grow in.

edit: sometimes my marimo moss balls get stuck in a jetty from the filter output and i sing the 'rollin' rollin' rollin'....' song, lol!
