Hi Friends !

I've bought an Atman 4 feet acrylic tank along with the stand. The stand has about 6 screws on the top surface which are covered by plastic peg like protective things.

Can I place the tank directly on the Stand or should I use a padding ? If padding has to be used, then what will make a good padding material and how thick should it be ?

Please help me friends.
Thanks !
Kush

Are the pegs flush with the top surface?

Are the pegs flush with the top surface?

Hi there,

Sorry I didnt understand the meaning of that...

Actually the pegs have a smooth surface but its above the Top surface. Is this what you meant ?

Kindly advice friend...
Thanks for caring !

yes thats what he meant. thats not a very good stand at all if they stick up. i would put something down 1/4 inch or so. i have used styrofoam.

Hi there !

Is Styrofoam the white sponge like soft material that looks like its been made of small soft beads, fused together ?

Actually I'm not sure what they're called here... We use sheets of something called thermocol (which is a substance like I've described above) for many purposes. Its used for packing etc and boxes made of these are used to transport frozen medicines etc...

Will these sheets do a good job to absorb the irregularity ?

Actually the pegs are all evenly spaced and symetrical. There are 4 on the corners, 3 on the back and one in the center. Will these be harmful ?

Kindly advice friend, as I intend to use a lot of rocks, wood etc...

The thermocol sounds like what we call styrofoam. The idea is to have it take up the roughness and uneven surfaces that are very small. A 1/2 cm sheet should be plenty. As Mgamer said, you do not want any obvious uneven surface before the sheet of thermocol goes down. It will not absorb that kind of uneven surface imperfections.

Or maybe just pop the plastic peices off the top of the screws aslong as the screw heads themselves are flush or just below the surface of the top .....

Hi friends !

I have used a 1" Sheet. Will it work ?

Should I remove the plastic heads then ? The screws are below the surface, but very slightly above in a few places. I think the 1" padding is thick enough and will absorb the uneveness. Anyways, I dont want to take chances and I'll wait for your advice and guidance...
Please advice and help me decide friends...
