plans for my 30gal SW

I finally found a store in town that has a lot of experince in SW

the owner of the store will even set up everything for me

this is his plan:

i have a 30Gal, there is a nice all i one unit he has, well 2 actually havent deceided which to get yet, one is 199 one is 250.


He already has the the little blue bal things cultured also, so that helps

we will put one bag of sand in and 2 pounds of his cultured sand, and only 3 to 5 pounds of live rock , i am not doing a reef tank so no big deal.

he is going to get all of that set up and start with the cleaning crew to help get everything running, a few snails, some crabs and shrimp.

he said he will monitor the tank for about 3 weeks before we go with the main inhabitants of the tank.

the choice for the tank are a pair of mated clowns and a Zebra Eel, which the shrimp will become his first food

I am glad i found this guy he has been dealing with salt water for over 20 years, he beleives in informing the customers not selling them stuff.

He even has a pair of Sea Horses in his store which are awsome to watch.

Anyone have any other ideas/suggestions/comments?

3-5 lbs of live rock is no where near enough. At minimum, you need 30 lbs. Usually 1lbs per gallon of water. The rock is your filter wheter you have a reef tank or not. Without it, ammonia, nitirite levels, etc will sky rocket in your tank if fish load increases or as they grow and produce more waste.

do some research on this sight and others, before you jump into it.
