I was in Petsmart on Sunday getting my dogs nails clipped and I wanted to check out the fish isle. I noticed they were selling plant bulbs for less than 3 bucks. Inside the packs were anywhere from 4-6 bulbs of various plants. I wanted to buy them because they were cheaper than one plant, but wasn't sure if bulbs were hard to grow or they needed special requirements. I don't remember the types of plants they were, but if they are anything like regular plants, I'll go back and buy some. Any ideas?

I bought 2 packs of these..
Planted all of the bulbs in my 125...

I got 1 onion plant.. thats it..
nothing else even sprouted.

Maybe its just my bad luck... maybe its not. I dont know.

You get lillies, apons and something else in them I am not for sure. I have only ever been able to get the Apons to sprout, I still have one that flowers constantly:) IME most of the bulbs end up duds but as I understand if you return the unsprouted bulbs the company will replace them, and then some-many say, so that it good:) Good luck with the bulbs. BTW what sixe tank are these going in as most of these bulbs get trather large?

I agree with Petluvr about what types of plants that the packages contain.

I have bought some of these packs before and I had a bad turnout. I think 1 out of 6 bulbs sprouted, so I sent them back to the address on the back of the package, which stated 30 day guarntee to sprout, they doubled my bulbs and returned them to me and I was bulb plant crazy there for awhile. It looked like most of my return bulbs had started sprouting before shipment. So I will have to say money wise you can't really beat it and the plants are pretty.

They will be going in a 55g.

i wouldnt trust them and, wouldnt you be futher ahead to just buy the plants????little more money..... but then you know that you have a really good chance that the plant(s) will live!!

That's true. Some times bargains are more trouble than they're worth, but everytime I go to the LFS or Petsmart/Petco, the flowers look so wilted or skimpy.

they work and they do have a guarantee.

some may take some time to sprout but if they don't just send them back and get a bunch more.
