ok, folks, here's a list of what i know i have, with pics following that i have no idea on. i would like to be able to someday say 'i have this (insert highly unpronounceable name here) and this (insert another multi-syllable name here), and i have this (insert....oh, you get the point, lol) for all my plants.

what i know i have:

Cladophora aegagropila (Marimo Moss Ball)
Echinodorus amazonicus (Amazon Sword Plant)
Echinodorus 'Rose' (Sword Var. rose)
Cryptocoryne beckettii 'petchii' (Crypt)
Vallisneria gigantea (Giant Val)
Isoetes lacustris (Octopus Plant)
Bacopa caroliniana (um...bacopa? lol)

here are the few i have no idea on: (pics 1 and 2 are the same plant, as are 4 and 5)

did a bit of a google search.

Heteranthera zosterifolia (Stargrass), photo 3, confirmed. thanks Dr. Awkward!

Cryptocoryne walkeri 'lutea', photo 6, confirmed, although mine are not so brown, more green with brown edges. thanks again Dr. Awkward.

Hygrophila difformis (Water Wisteria), photos 4 & 5, confirmed. thanks KatelynC!

now i've got a deal pending for two tankfulls of plants from a local forum member....... so more plant identification to come! lol.

so can anyone help me with identifying the plant in the first two photos? that's the only one that is anonymous still, lol.

did a lil more googling and am now confused! lol. is water cabbage Samolus parviflorus or Pistia stratiotes? many links led me to one or the other when googling 'water cabbage', with both calling it 'water cabbage' as the common name.

the plant i have does look much like a photo i found of a more mature Samolus parviflorus.

can anyone please confirm this confusion for me? thanks!

#3 looks more like Pogostemon stellata (Eusteralis), stems look thicker than Stargrass.

hmmmm, you may be correct Riiz. but www.plantedtank.net says this about it:

"A strikingly beautiful plant that can be very difficult to grow properly.
Pogostemon stellatus formally known as Eusteralis stellata is a very difficult plant for the beginner or even an intermediate grower. it prefers an acidic substrate such as Flora Base, Aqua soil, it will also do well in Eco Complete, Flourite and sand as long as the addition of peat is introduced underneath the main substrate, (Low KH/4 or less & GH/5 or less)

Lighting needs to be within the 3wpg range.
CO2 injection is a necessity, 24/7 managed and regulated for best results, a mist of C02 is recommended.
Fertilization should be diligent, NPK, TE and Fe."

I don't inject co2, i don't use ferts, i have very hard water (gh and kh unknown, but ph of 7.8), and this plant is doing very well in my tank. i bought it at about two thirds its size and if i hold it straight up it now comes above the water level of the tank (55 gallon), with new leaves and roots appearing almost daily. so i'm thinking it may be stargrass and not Pogostemon stellata, although it does look like it could possibly be either to me.

anyone able to confirm on the 'water cabbage' i asked about a post or two ago?

Same here with regards to tap-water quality. I grow it in hardwater too, but my water is acidic due to the CO2 injection and it grew like a weed in my tanks too, so I dont think the PTF description really fits anymore.

I bought my original bunch from aquariumplants.com, also they have a really good photos too if it helps ID'ing what you have. https://www.aquariumplants.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=bp-32132
