I just bought a plant from Petco from their live plant tank. It looks healthy and has crumply leaves. The undersides of these leaves are purple. Sorry can't get pics but any help would be appreciated.

I agree. Most of the aquatic plants the Petcos here sell are indeed aquatic.

I don't have a picture of it but i've seen it in their tanks for a good month and a few weeks so I was almost certain that it was aquatic.
Some Petcos are better than others. Ours sells mostly aquatic plants, but we have the mondo grass and ornamental bamboo as well.
Since you don't have a pic, have you considered checking the Plant Guide at PlantGeek.net to ID it yourself? It's helped me out a lot in the past.

I know what plant you are referring to, and I am pretty sure it's not aquatic. I wish I could find it, but *if* it's the plant I'm thinking of, I have seen it online listed as a non-aquatic plant. I think it's referred to as "Purple Waffle" and it's not aquatic.
If it is "purple waffle" it will die, it will rot, and it will give you an ammonia spike.
Isnt there a thread here that includes all no aquatic plants sold at pet stores? I cant seem to find it though
