Still need to check Home Depot but all their plant/garden stuff is outside buried in snow..Anyone know if Walmart might have it,or someplace else I haven't thought of ? I've never tried to get the stuff but I beleive they have their own distributors, you wont find them at lowes / HD, someone correct me if I am wrong.
Lesco used to sell Soilmaster and recently switched to Turface. They would be your best bet if you have one locally. If not, you can contact the manufacturers and they may be able to help you find some.

I have also used Schultz aquatic plant soil with great results. You can maybe find that at Home Depot or Walmart for decent prices.
These substrates may be inert out of the bag, but they all have the ability to retain nutrients. This and the prices are what makes them so appealing.

well,after looking into those further,I'm gonna skip that,don't like the looks of it...so,its either spend the $$$ on Eco Complete or try the stuff from AquariumPlants.com

If you skipping it because of looks, then you have to skip the AP stuff since its the same... it wont look any different. Did you see the pics of it for comparison I posted?
If you want black they have black flourite that is now avaiable, in sand which many like, and also Aquasoil Amazonia which many prefer over Eco. Eco is the most expensive one out there...

I'm gonna use a 29g sort of as a guinea pig tank..I ordered a 20# bag of Eco Complete;got a decent price from local pet store, cheaper than I could get anywhere else anyway.,and mix it about 75% eco-25% black Tahitian Moon Sand. Would there be any downfalls to doing that ? I know the sand will settle below the eco eventually,but other than that

I havent checked the prices lately but the last time I ran the numbers I think I was using $20-22 per bag of eco. At that rate Eco was slightly more expensive (dont forget Eco has less per bag, you paying extra for the extra water weight).
