Plant suggestions please!

I'm thinking about getting some plants for my background. I want a bushy reddish plant. What plants are reddish and bushy and will make a good back ground, and won't grow TOO big for my 10 gal. I'm waiting for my new light to come in and I'm trying to make a good decision on this plant. I'm thinking about ludwiga, or asian ambulia. Any other suggestions? BTW, list only plants that can survive under 2.8 wpg, since that is what I will have! Thanks.

You will probably need to suppliment co2 at that light level as well as to have healthy red plants.

I love my asian ambulia - but it will grow tall - just trim it back. It is not red - at least mine is not - but I am told under good lighting the tops turn somewhat brown/red - which mine are doing currently.

Ludwiga is good as well - I have that also (Ludwigia peruensis). It is a good red plant that grows tall as well.

Some Cryptocoryne's will have red and green in them and are pretty hardy as well. Cryptocoryne wendtii "Red" is a good example of this.

Cabomba Purple (Red)(Cabomba pulcherrima) is a bushy plant but this is a plant I have never been able to grow very well - apparently it is very demanding.

Rotala Indica is also another plant you might want to consider - it is very popluar because it is undemanding and easy to grow.

Altenanthera reineckii AKA red temple, gorgeous plant, it's a stem plant so you just trim it when it gets too tall, re-plant if you want. easy to grow, vivid color. The really cool thing is every time you cut it down it sprouts doubles from the cut so it gets bushier and bushier as you trim it. Just my favorite red plant.

Are there different types of red temple plant?

There are, and I have owned three differnet types, but only the one I psted has done well for me. I have heard rumors of some types not doing well submersed, but plan to try a few new types this summer. I got mine from a vendor on aquabid, who has turned out to be an excellent supplier. if you want details PM me. Aquabotonic also carries it, and I've yet to hear any complaints about Robert H's store or the plants he sells.
