What kind of palnts do well in a tank that just has a regular aquarium bulb in it? I'd like to get more plants for my 10 gallon tank and I need something hardly. I am also going to start getting live plants for my 30 gallon. In my 10 gallon tank I have a two bannana plants and i'm not sure what the others are. Also could you guys help me identify some of my plants that I have? The place where i got them from didn't have them marked other than loose plants and potted plants.

Here are the pictures:
Sorry if the pictures aren't very good.

2nd pic is an anubias, maybe anubias nana judging from the leaf size compared to the shrimp. You have the rhizome buried (it's the long stem part that the leaves connect to), you should uncover it or it can rot.

3rd pic is java fern - you should get this one out of the gravel and tie it to a rock or driftwood, they don't do well planted in the substrate.

4th some kind of val.

These are all low-light plants and should do okay in a low-light tank. You could also look for java moss or crypto as some other low-light options.

How do I tie the java fern to the driftwood or the rock?
Would it be ok on the rock instead of the driftwood? My algae eater is on the driftwook quite a lot.

What kind of rock would you tie it too? I have a large rock in the tank right now but I think it may be hard to tie it to it. Do you think my algae eater would bother the plant if i did tie it to the driftwood? Where do i tie the plant from? I mean do i tie the stem of the plant or the closer to the roots? Sorry for all the questions I am some what new to plants.

Thanks for the help.

With the anubis do i just bury the roots? I did uncover the rhizome but the roots are still covered.

It may do all right planted in the substrate. I have some java fern w/ the rhizome buried in the substrate and it has gotten *huge* and is constantly sending up new shoots. I have the same pebbly-type gravel you have.
