Planted 120G Tank

Jay, this tank is so impressive,

it has a long ways and looks awesome. I hope my gf and I's tank looks this good eventually!

Very nice!

The angels look great with the congos.

Well it was time for a change again. I've pulled everything up, donated a few plants and fish to the local plant club. I just haven't been happy with how the tank is coming together not to mention battling algae so I've reduced the lighting for about 4 weeks now -I had 270w over the 120g. I drop it to 160w of just T5 lighting with no ill affect on plants but the BBA has definitely receded which is cool. I know more or less where I want to place thing and have gotten most of it down where it will remain. I'm also planning driftwood which fell a little short so I'm soaking a few more pieces to finish it out.

I'll post some pics. when there's enough there to get a pic of.

Yes, need pics.

I have a 180 I am planting and I need all the good ideas I can steal. :-)

I enjoyed reading and looking at your tank progress. Thanks for sharing!

My pleasure.

It's a never ending battle just when I have the slightest satisfaction of how the tank looks I start tinkering again to the point where I'm dissatisfied again and start over. I'm still using many of the same plants but but I pulled it all up.

I scraped the Blyxa foreground and am now just using Glosso seems to be doing well. I need a few other spots to grow in before it looks somewhat complete.

Gorgeous, it makes me excited to see what happens with the different stages my new planted 75g will go through. Some of your pictures make it hard to believe they are the same tank, with how much can change over the months. I am worried I wont be willing to take the knife to my plants. I kept going page by page through this thread, and I was thinking after seeing each photo, "wow, thats gorgeous, I would stop right there because it's perfect". But then I would see the next page of your FTS and I would be like "****...that's even better!"

Thanks, Well I can cultivate plants and algae pretty easily but I stink at aquascaping. Unfortunately I've found myself hating the layout after a trim so a simple 20 or 30 mins turns into a 4hr makeover. Ideally (learning as I go) I find if I trim a few plants that need it the most I can keep the tank from looking like I hacked it.

Your 75g will look great once it starts to fill in, you'll have a better idea of what species will do well once your tank settles. Keep up the good work.
