Planted 12g

kjr928

Go fish yourself.
This is my 12g eclipse with DIY CO2 and retrofit light.

1 dwarf gourami, 6 white clouds, a bunch of cherry red shrimp (growing them out in breeder net) & millions of snails.

Baby tears, cabomba, anacharis, java fern, dwarf sag, crypts.

Any suggestions to improve are welcome!

Nice! I'd put some driftwood in there to give it a bit of vertical structure.

i agree about the driftwood. it would break up the monatany of the tank and give the fish something to nipple at and the shrimps would love it. Also a great place to attach some moss and let the shrimp thrive on it as well.

Looks really good so far though!

so whats the wattage of the light now??

I would get rid of anacharis and maybe cabomba and get some rotala or ludwigia. It will bring out the pro look of the tank thats in the fore and midground..

Btw i hope you are moving the breeder from side to side daily.. when i kept the breeder in the same place the plants below didnt get enough light and started dying..

Whats in the breeder net? I would try and get a clear breeder tank so if you do keep it there all the time it will compliment the tank and wont block out much light.

I would also get some wood on the left or even right side. Try looking into maybe manzanita branches, since malaysian will seem 2 bulky in the tank.

Besides that the tank looks very very nice, the contrast of the stone and the HM is very pretty.

Pretty! I see it's partly in front of a window. Is that part of your lighting scheme? It seems that might add some algae problems. Personally I like a dark background so fish & plants color doesn't seem washed out.
I agree a tall branch would be nice.

Add one more rock, smaller than the one you have in the middle. Make sure it's the same type as those two you already have. And of course, move that large rock a little off the middle.

As for plants, get something either really bush (and tall) or really stringy(and tall) in the back :-)
Anacharis looks awful in my opinion. They have this weird dead look to me. Like it's flaky and they don't have enough leaves on them. It bothers me :s but I dunno, that's a personal preference though.

Thanks guys.

The lighting was originally 13W but I increased it to 32W. So it's almost 3wpg.

In the breeder net I'm keeping a bunch of baby shrimp - I'm just growing them out in there. I will probably get rid of it in a week or two.

I do get some algae with the tank in front of the window, but between the snails, water changes, and Flourish Excel it's pretty much under control. I would move the tank away from the window except that this is my work tank, and moving it is unfortunately not an option. I'm lucky they let me have it at all!

So you think a vertical piece of driftwood with some moss growing on it would add to the tank? I will look for one!
