Hi. I have a 30-gallon that is planted. I also have Bolivian Rams along with long-fin danios, platties, a few snails and a ghost shrimp. I have not had any issues with plants being uprooted or eaten since before I introduced the Rams. My aquarium plants were beautiful. However, since I introduced the Rams, I've noticed plants uprooted and/or eaten. Has anyone else had this issue? I need the aquarium planted because that is the habitat for the Rams. Are there plants that the Rams won't eat? I currently have Amazon Swords and Temples which they seem to leave alone. I have Anacharis but they seem to be nibbling on it.

They have eaten foxtails, dwarf baby tears and moneywort to death.

I really love the Bolivian Rams. They are a beautiful fish. I'm hoping to find a balance between my beautiful fish and a planted aquarium. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that your rams are being stinkers. I, myself, used to own 5 bolivian rams in a 125 gallon planted tank that consisted of mostly crypts, swords, and anubias. I not once had them eat any plants or even touch them. This might be a stupid question but are the rams going for the ghost shrimp and getting aggressive enough to eat them that they are trying to remove the plants to get to the shrimp?

I have never had problems with rams and plants either. What kinds of snails do you have? Could be them.
