Photo Update

Here's a photo of the fish looking existential, and one of the aquarium as it is now.

It's coming along nicely. Beautiful Ram, too.

Thanks.

I have noticed that the leaves that were on the C. wendtii 'red' when it arrived aren't nearly as healthy looking as those that have grown since planting it. The difference is clear because the new leaves are red and the old leaves are green. It looks like the plant has enough new leaves to support itself.

Actually, the same is true of many plants in the tank. I am considering a major trim.

I am impressed with the growth rate of the Val's and Glosso. One of the val's sent out a runner to start a new plant out of the shadow where the light is more intense.

Today I noticed a decrease in pearling and some hair algae growth so I re-dosed the ferts as above. I hope it works.

Well, that didn't really work... the algae is still growing slowly but only on certain leaves. I am going to let it "ripen" then trim the leaves.

1 Gal (25%) H2O change - RO water with NaHCO3 added to buffer.

As predicted, the hair algae started to die down and I trimmed the plants. Here is how it looks now:

The hair algae on the walls appears to be dead or dying, so I'm going to dose the tank with "the usual" and hope the plants take up the nutes instead of the algae.

Just realized I haven't done anything to the tank in 10 days - some algae is growing. Hopefully I'll be able to do a water change and dose nutes today. Added 0.5mL of flourish to assuage my guilt for accidental neglect.

Jeez, I have had a lot more important things to do, but the tank has survived the neglect. Going to test water parameters probably tomorrow.

The vals and some hair algae had overgrown the top shading the other plants and leading the glosso to stretch. Here's a pic after a trim and dosing of nutes.
