Thanks all for the kind words....

What are the rocks called that you first did this tank with? i see them in aquascaping a lot but ive never heard of what theyre called.

I looked it up online because I wasn't sure what it was either.
The rocks that were in there are Shale they've been in and out of my scape for the last 12yrs. Shale is softer than slate from what I've found online and mine is like an aqua green in color but I think I just seen that it comes in a black as well. Supposedly it's not recommend for aquariums because of leaching but I've never had a problem with it.

Well it's been a while every shrimp in the tank just died so I left the tank empty for a while since I had nothing to add. It eventually had algae all over the glass so I tossed in a BN baby pleco and it is amazing just how much work that little guy has done in a couple of days practically completely clear. I can't say I've been impressed by the AquaSoil over the SMS although I have had growth, the Glosso has done nothing except melt. (had no trouble growing it in SMS.)

This is what it looks like after a couple of months unfortunately I don't have RCS to toss in here as the few I have in another tank are not breeding.

The anubias looks great, especially with the wood you are using. Any ideas why the glosso is melting now when it did so well with the other substrate? Maybe a pH difference now that the rocks are gone and the wood is in there? It does look like it's reaching, perhaps it's time to change your bulb?

If you want to reduce the distraction from the equipment, you could move it to the back left corner behind the anubias.

All in all a great little tank, and inspiring. I've been planning to redo my newt's paludarium for quite some time, and this tank has really given me some great ideas to use in the tiny space I have for her water.

These ideas look really good. I really illustrate how the big rocks are in the wild. I definitely like the rock that lying on each other better cause it makes them look more natural. But the light make the project look a bit normal.

Quick update not much has happened the Glosso is almost all gone. The Stargrass that was almost extinct in all of my tanks is starting to show signs of life from the 2 tiny plantlet I threw in here which is cool as I hope to propagated to my other tanks again. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the dwarf hairgrass I had so I'll be looking to acquire that again in the near future.

I was considering moving the plants around to hide the equipment but considering it has taken this long to get growth I'm not going to touch it until I'm ready to get the hairgrass back in there.

Thanks for looking.

you can send the rest of that glosso to me if you'd like. i have a terrarium i'd love to see it grow emmersed in. :D

tank looks great. sorry to hear the switch was detrimental to your glosso.
