Planted tank requires frequent cleaning - how to keep it cleaner longer?

I think most has been covered. Change/add to your circulation. MTS to help keep the sand bed from getting anaerobic. Do the worked needed to keep it clean. I have a tank that uses very lightly colored play sand and it can be a chore, but I like the overall look.

Apart from that, your tank sounds awesome. Have any pictures to share?

Certainly! Attaching one here... somehow the fish seem do be doing a decent job hiding in this one :-)aquarium.jpg

Any suggestions, good people of Aquaria Central? Looking for recommendations on brand and size of powerhead, as well as appropriate locations to place it in the tank... Thanks!!!

Wall 1, the Driftwood over there isn't going to be much help with creating flow.

Brand of PH/CP isn't going to be too important, but I'd likely go with Koralia or VorTech depending on budget. Size will likely depend in how much your sand might end up moving, I would likely stay well under 1000GPH, but really depends on your use, getting something DC might be best so you can turn it down if needed and get something bigger than you think you want.

I think it's been covered, but based on the location of the suction strainer and outlet on this particular setup, I'm not surprised you have stuff accumulating where you say.

Move the suction strainer and spraybar together, more towards the center of the tank. It doesn't have to be 'dead center'.

If you feel a PH is a must, I like this outfit on fleaBay. I've bought lots o hardware from them over the years.https://www.ebay.com/itm/530-700-80...hash=item3cfbd685cb:m:mpHQEP9kkkxTsitPt_l8Xfw

I would pay up for the magnetic mount, but that's how I roll.. Big spender and all.

Sorry about the silly clarification .. I know PH stands for Power Head ... what does CP stand for? and what is DC?
