Just be careful going too cheaply.
Substrate really sucks to have to pull back out again in a year or so because you're not happy with it.
I always figure it is better to save up for what I want the first time instead of buying something to "make do" for now and have to spend additional $ later for the right thing.
With a 75g, I would think long and hard about it without CO2. Algae can be really awful to deal with.
