planter in a 29

Hi,
I am interested in "gluing" a shallow planter onto the inside-back of a 29 gal.. Does anyone have experience doing this? It seems like this would create less of a demand in terms of lighting needed, and could be aquascaped in an effective way. Any help would be great.

Not sure exactly what you intend to do here, but aquarium sealant is one way to 'glue' objects together within the tank itself.

I will try and clarify: the plan is to glue (w/ sealant) a fairly shallow (6") planter onto the inside back of my 29 gallon tank. This will allow me to get by with less lighting due to an increased intensity, rather than if I planted the plants on the bottom. I am also interested in the effect created by taller plants growing out over the tank rather than straight up. I have seen this done in large tanks, and am considering applying it to a smaller tank. What do you guys think?

That sounds like an interesting idea. I had once considered planting inside a champagne glass and letting the plant hang over the sides, but I never put any real effort into making it happen.

Many people plant in a 'tiered' substrate for the effect and also for the very reason you mention. This allows for less water for the light to penetrate to reach the plants and will help in that respect.
