My biggest java fern plantlets' leaves are about 3", and have a good number of roots. Are they ready to be put on driftwood now? How would I go about removing them from the parent leaf?

Also, I just switched from 15-watt incandescent bulbs (3 wpg) to 10-watt flourescent bulbs (2 wpg). Everything looks so much greener, and the fish really stand out - it's wonderful! But that aside, will 2wpg be enough for this stuff?

Anacharis - thanks, jmhart!
And would it be alright to just stick the roots in the gravel, or let it free-float?

Specifically, your 'Anacharis' is Brazilian waterweed, Egeria densa. There are several similar plants sold as Anacharis.

Thanks :) That helps narrow down my Google searches a lot

Anyone know about the lighting question? I keep reading "moderate to lots of light," so is 2wpg going to be too little? I leave my lights on a timer for 9 hours/day.

what kind of bulb? cfl? should be ok but might want to add brighter bulbs.

Not sure, but I think so. It just says fluorescent on the box it came in.
Lemmi snag a picture real quick.
