Plants and guppies?

Hi. Are there any good plants that I can put in a ten gallon tank with a pleco and some baby guppies? Eventually I plan to have live bearers like guppies, swordtails and mollies. What would be a good plant that can handle a little nibbling? Also how does the whole co2 thing work? and the lights? I've never had plants before. Im not to fond of the pleco so i can exchange it for another algea eater. Also, i have a few snails but i can take them out (because Ive heard they reak havoc on plants) I dont have the money for new lights but my tank is only 4mon. old so the bulbs should be fairly bright. I only want a few plants, mostly so that they are beneficial to my fish.

The plants you can get greatly depend upon the amount of light you can supply them with.
Do you currently have a light? if so how many watts is it?
There are three main categories for plants, low light, medium and high.
Usually low light plants are the most easiest to care for, requiring no additional fertilizers, no co2 etc to grow healthy.
With medium and high light plants it can get a little harder, some need special nutrient rich gravel, while others require the right dosage of ferts to successfuly grow.

With co2 injection (if thats what you mean by co2?) you basiclly enject it into your tank, you can either make a DIY co2 injector or buy a pressurized system.
The purpose of co2, from what ive read, is to stimulate the intake of nutrients by the plants, which makes them grow faster and healthier.

Some easy low light plants that come to mind are Anubias and Java fern, both are easy to care for and look quite nice.

Im not sure of the wattage (im not at home currently). If I only had one or two small plants would the fish provide enough co2? Also isnt the kind of substrate important too? And i once heard that there are certain root types that are important too, or are they not that important when choosing a plant?thanx for the link. I really appriciate it ! If you choose a low lighting plant and you have medium or high light will it hurt them?
