I have a 10 gallon and a 5 that needs some plants! i have high lighting on the 5 and low to mediumish on the 10 i would also like plants that would do well planted . so any plants that fit would be good. thx for reading this confusing post

i don't want to have co2 i don't mind treating with fertilizers. the 5 is between 4-6 watts per gall. the 10 is the lighting that come swith the 10 gallon kit

Your 10 will be low light. It may acually be too low so you may have to add some light to it. But check the wattage first.

For low light plants here are the most common ones: java moss, java fern, anubias, vallesneria, crypt wendtii, dwarf sag. There are others which I'm sure someone else will mention.

The 5 is high light so you have more options there. But I think with that much light you may need to add CO2 or you'll have an algae problem. Or you may want to reduce the wattage.

I've only got a low-tech tank (no CO2, no ferts, low light) so some other people can give you more info for your high light tank.

Between 4-6 watts per gallon is a big discrepancy. What's the actual number? Find out the wattage of the bulbs and divide it by the gallons of the tank. If you are not using ferts or co2 with that tank you will have a serious algea problem. I've had bad luck with excess algae with 3 wpg no ferts/no co2. I'm no plant expert, but the higher in wpg you go generally the more algae you will have unless you do co2 and ferts.

See if you can bring the lighting down on the 5 gallon to 2-2.5, and find out the actual lighting on the 10

Some low light plants: java fern: windelov, needle leaf, regular; Onion plant; guppy grass; pennywort; hornwort; anarchis; duck weed; crypt wendtii: bronze, green, red; lots of other crypts; marimo balls; java moss; anubias-huge variety of them, including very small ones to very big ones; vals
