Plants in a new aquarium

Hello,

Can i add plants to a tank that has not cycled yet? Will it slow the cycle process down? Thanks for any help.

Yep. The plants should survive without any problems during the cycle - and they give you something to look at.

I read about planted tank cycles where the plants are the focus of ferts at higher concentrations (obviously no fish until the cycle completes) to have the plants establish themselves. You should be able to do a search to get more information on cycling a planted only tank.

They should be fine. They might even be helpful absorbing the ammonia, nitrite and definetely nitrate. While cycling, it'll give you a chance to watch something instead of a blank aquarium. G'luck!
