Wood, you might want to read up on halmedia a bit as well. It prefers good light and does require your calicum be maintained for optimal health.

That looks more like Caulerpa prolifera, not seagrass like Thalassia spp. The latter has a very thick, woody rhizome, just like terrestrial grasses. Here is a pic of what I was referring to:
