Where can I buy good ones that will help with quality of water. Led lighting 90 gallon with sump freshwater,

Need to stay local in major chain as they are the closet. Need to make sure I get full plant, Would like floating pants or potted as I have Two blood red parrots.

Type of Plants freshwater LED Lighting
How soon will they make a difference to the water quality?

I do not want snails of course.

Would the help with cycling?

if you are asking for what type of plants, then this thread is okay...I'd recommend java fern, anubias, or some other hardy low light plant...what kind of LED lighting do you have?

For water quality...plants will provide a bit more O2 for your fish during the daytime which is usually beneficial unless you already have excellent water flow in the tank...plants also use up nutrients and in a way limit algae growth depending on how many plants are present in the tank...good luck

The amount of nutrients plants use up ("improve water quality") is relative to the amount of light they get. So like TheFishBoss said, java fern or moss and anubias would work in your low light setup, but they are slow growers that won't soak up much nutrients especially in low light. But if you fully plant the tank with them you should notice a difference, especially with just the two fish.

Do you have an LED fixture already if so what one? Most of the FW LED fixtures on the market or only suited for low light and many ill suited for plants all together.

Yep, or they're rated for 'no light plants' as I found out. LOL! I added enough inexpensive LEDs to my one small LED hood to make it blindingly bright, yet it still did nothing for plants. They just don't kick out enough PAR.

So Tamara, hopefully what you have is an LED fixture specifically designed for plants. That being the case, things will go well for you.

If you don't have a LFS with a good selection of plants, mail-order is the way to go.

I think you may be right I may need more.

Here is what I have:
My lighting is Marineland double bright led 1200 Lumens White 1W leds and blue 60mW leds.

That's pretty much crap for anything other than making things visible. buildmyled.com is one site that does freshwater planted tank lighting, but there were some others mentioned in a thread. I can't find it quickly, but there are a few relatively recent ones.

I am up for buying a better quality light. This is a upgrade from the strip I had before.

Any suggestions that will give multiple options?

Thanks

I was hoping for plants like you can put in your house that thrive anywhere.

Mainly for water quality as I dont mind the look of the plants I have in there.
