Plants sucking up all the nutrients?

I set up my high light 10g tank and threw in some higher light plants of course. Also, I added some water sprite to see how well it would do. This tank gets dosed with DIY Co2 and 2 drops of PMDD premix per day.

The water sprite has went ballistic! What started out as little plantlets about 1/2 inch has blossomed to 2+ inches in a week. Most of them that is. There are a couple that are growing but not at the fast pace of the others.

So my question is, is it possible that these guys are eating up the PMDD and none of the other plants would be getting much if any? Just wondering if I need to up the dose of the PMDD or would that put them in overdrive?

I'm not sure if you are talking about all water sprite in general but faster growing plants often out compete the slower growers and naturally show the results of dosing much sooner, but generally all the plants should also be benefiting. You could try uping the dosage slowly and see what happens. Some of my plants grow in excess of 1" a day!!

I'm refering to Ceratopteris thalictroides. It hasn't ceased to amaze every day I go down there and it's like "Wow! You grew that much in a day?!" At this rate I will have to pull them in about a week.

I have to agree with Bajanfish it is the nature of water sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides) as a fast grower. Providing Co2, Ferts, and Higher lighting for it will cause the plant to have to be trim every 2nd day and will become quite a challenge for a small tank. This would be true for all aquarium plants that are fast growers.

If you have live fish in the tank I'd be very cautious about increasing PMDD. If you choose to do so depending on how much you dose already don't do anything drastic.
