Heya folks -

Does anyone have a clear/decent pic as to the difference btwn. male/female platys? Or Mollies? Or swordtails?

YES, I've been to ****************...can't get the images to pop-up.

:D

Thanks.

Some of the best pictures I have seen are in this thread on another messageboard. For a verbal description; females have three fins on their underside in the middle of their bodies. Two slightly forward on either side and one dead center. All of these fins are triangular in appearance. Now on a male, instead of the one fin dead center being triangular, it is tubular and is called a gonadopodium. once you've seen the difference you'll never be confused again so long as the fish doesn't have clamped fins. Also, males are more steramlined in shape while females have a more round or oval belly, but this is a poor way to tell them apart as I have seen some fat males and I actually own a very slender female. Hope that helps.
