So I picked some platies that I hoped were pregnant. Now I can’t decide if they are pregnant or I’m over feeding them. Any guesses?

Well, they're all quite chubby. I'm guessing the top 1 is female, it has a shadow of a "gravid spot". The second looks male based on the "gonopodium". Look up those terms & pics.

The 3rd, I can't tell anything but overfed.

Once females are fertilized, there's no telling how many fry they may produce.. They can often "store" sperm.
This is 1 reason I don't keep live bearers any more. . I wish you good luck!

But feed less...

Hello I’m new too owning this kind of fish. Do you think she’s pregnant or over fed? If she’s pregnant when do you think I should put her in the breeder box?

Her "gravid spot" looks like she's not ready to give birth anytime soon but she does look gravid to me rather than obese...I haven't kept livebearers in a long, long time... But when the dark area is both darker & larger & she seems to have some trouble swimming normally & tends to stay in 1 place most of the time, it's time for the breeder box.

Do you have a plan for raising fry? She may well eat any fry...not always a bad thing...

Thank you for the advice fishorama, and I don’t know how I’m going to raise the fry
