Platty babies

They generally have anywhere from 10-50 babies in one go. For mine I just kept feeding the same food as always. I have had 4 survive that batch. Most were eaten by the parents. To save them all you would have to remove them or the adults.

Plants help as they give the babies places to hide.

We have found 5 fry. I took out all the platys but left the alge eater in there. They are eating the crushed flake right now. Hopefully they will survive. :D

I doubt the algae eater will go after them, though stranger things have happened. You can also put a little cooked egg yolk in every so often. It is tiny and pure protein for them. A little on the messy side so if you use it often then you will have to change the water a lot more.

Thanks for all your help. I have so many tanks to take care of which includes (2) 30g (1) 15g (2) 10g we have tiger barbs, sliver dollars, gromets powder blue and 3 spot ones, mollys, zebra tetra, black skirted tetras and white skirted tetras and an albino tiger barb. Have 3 Plecos one is a gold nugget and 2 chinese alge eaters. I do have my hands full.

Watch out for those chinese algae eaters. Eventually they stop eating algae and become very good at attacking the other fish in a tank. You will probably have to get rid of them later on, just keep your eye on them.
