id like to get a few platy's, but im not sure if they will eat my floating duckweed? the roots flow down nicely im not sure how tempting that would be to a platy?
or will they leave it alone?
the duckweed is only on one side of my tank (the still water side)

There is not a fish in the world that can eat enough DW, it grows tooo fast.

I don't have platys but between the fish & filters it doesn't grow for me. Thank goodness, my husband always thinks we should keep any that hitchhikes.

so i take that as a yes? platys will eat duckweed?
i dont have enough duckweed to go around like that though lol, mine are just started out, barely take up 1/4 of the tank. so id like to get it going a little bit first if they are at risk?

You havent met my blue gourami, I have to add duckweed to his tank regularly. I used to breed platies, and I dont recall them ever eating DW, I used it as a filter in their tanks and it was very effective.

But a larger floater is definitely a good idea, btw.

My silver dollars LOVE the weed, but as far as platys are concerned no problem. Also my pond fish wipe out dw in a day.
