Hahahaha. Because there was an agreement with my wife and I in regards to what fish are kept, I wanted to be sure this is a good idea for a first time saltwater keeper.


She wants the Finding Nemo set up, yet refused to do the research on at least the name. hahhaha I found them, but I want to know will they work in a FOWLR/Reef tank?

I am more interested in easy corals to keep that have color and just look good. Will these fish work? Any suggestion in my coral options?

u can make a tank like that for sure! dont forget the royal gramma lol (half purple and yellow fish...forgot his name for the movie)

i would advise a very large aquarium for them all though the blue tang(dory) get very large...i would recommend no less than a 90 gallon for all those fish and a 1oo+ would be much better....if ur using the 125 u should be great. as for corals i would recommend polyps, zooanthids, mushrooms, and leather corals, they are all pretty easy to care for.
but the morish idol..well they should be left to research institutions, public aquaria, and specialized expert aquarists....but best left in the ocean...they just dont eat or fare well...only success ive seen was getting them to eat but they never made it past 2 years ...besides that was keeping them in schools of 5 ore more in 350+ gallon mature aquariums and those are still doing great. i would recommend not going with the idol...a bannerfish looks alot like them...but they eat corals...well one of the 2 main ones will but they are so hard to distinguish but one is reef safe usually.
 
Germanman - Your always to first. Hey I really appreciate the help. last and final question. The damsels will work in a tank with Coral?
 
Yes, Damsels will work in the tank fine..However, damsel wil become aggresive and very territorial once introduced in the tank. My honest opinion would be to leave them out and it will make for a nice peacefull aquarium...Because believe me, trying the catch them in a tank that is full of rock is near on impossible....

Saw on a thread that someone kept damsels in there fuge? Is this suggested?
 
persoanlly, i dont agree with it...The fuge is there for macro algae growth, filtration and pod colonys to grow....the only things i would put in the sump are maybe troublesome crabs, things like that...but certainly not fish...That is just my opinion though...

Or consists of dissecting a tank, rearranging everything, and avoiding smashing hermit crabs in the process.

Also you should watch with the bicolor pseudochromis, because they sometimes go after cleaner shrimp. Sometimes they are okay, other times they aren't, just something to watch.

The purpose of a fuge is to give you a place to keep stuff that can't be put in the main tank... Usually that is the stuff you've listed (wich is the best way IMO)... other times people use them for other reasons... Personally I would say that if you want to keep fish in your fuge you should add another fuge for that purpose.
