Please don't let it be flukes or something sinister like that...

Flaringshutter, I am seeing some pineconing - I thought it might be because she is so fat, but I'm not sure. I ran carbon to get any traces of the other meds out and have now put Melafix. She is still looking happy, but very discoloured.

I won't be able to get any special foods from my LFS, and as I've already said ordering off the internet is out of the question. I'm just going to have to do what I can with fresh water and the stuff I already have.

Oh, Corrie, I hope she will be OK.

Corrie, how's Ellie? I hope she's better. Let us know.

She isn't really getting any better. I'm a bit worried as I have to go away for ten days in September, and I don't know what's going to happen to her. I'd normally just leave them to get on with it, but she might react badly to bad water quality, no food...any thoughts? I'm taking longer and longer to reply because I've got a deadline coming up at work!

Is there anyone you know that is a fish keeper that might check on her? Some aquarium shops have people, or know of people, that service tanks in the home; perhaps you could check to see if the cost is prohibitive.

Having someone that is experienced and knowledgeable check on her could put your mind to rest. Other than that.... I just don't know. It will be dicey leaving her for that long, especially without the benefit of water changes.

I'd just like to let you all know she died sometime today while I was at work. It seems a bit sudden cos she wasn't getting any worse, or so it seemed...My guess is she was just weakened by this long process? I'm really upset but I feel some kind of relief now. For better or worse, she isn't suffering anymore, which is something to be glad about. Thanks everyone for all the support and help.
