Please explain to this lighting idiot! :D

I would call them and tell them you wanted the 2x 40w bulbs and see what their customer service will do for you. If that is what you ordered, that is what you should have gotten. Can't hurt to give it a whirl.

Thanks everyone!

It's not that it's a HUGE deal, I am going very low tech on my 55, but I figured with the 80 wts along with my original striplight of 32 wts, I'd be better off.

I think what's bothering me is that they said (2) 40 watt bulbs were included, which is clearly not the case

I will call, for sure

Matter of principal & all

*smirk*

I have heard only good things about Drs Foster & Smith

If it was me I would keep the T-8's more efficient more useable light and much easier to change out because of smaller diameter but you could always call them and tell them that they said it comes with 2 40 watters but came with 2 32 watters. Did you get to pick the bulbs that came with it??? if so it might come with 40's but you picked out bulbs that only come in 32 watts

No, I didn't get to pick the bulbs. When it said it came with (2) 40's, I thought that was perfect :(

I def want to stay with the T8's if possible

*sigh*

Several years ago a law was passed governing energy usage. The old F40T12 lamps used to produce 40 watts power. Now thelamps are rated for 43 or 34 watts max. This was mainly done foroffice buildings that use hundreds of lamps. The same law also initiated the use of electronic ballasts. And in the near future, incandescant lamps will become obsolete, replaced by compact flourescent lamps.Charles

I would call and thank them personally. T8s, despite being only 32watt, put out more light than a 40watt T12.

??

Well there ya go...

You really shouldn't worry too much, and you really don't need to purchase T-12, 40wt lamps. The T-8's use less energy, but have at least (if not more) output. I'm asuming that the ballast in the fixture is an electronic ballast; that's the reason the item description states it can accomadate all those different bulbs, meaning you can get the same lumen output from a lesser wattage lamp, thus, saving you money in energy costs.
