please help identify this fish

GPASI meeting

Well, I thank everyone for their help. I wouldn't have guessed Danios. I thought I bought "columbian tetras."

GPASI is having it's monthly meeting (and small scale auction) next Friday night, so I'll bag a couple of the suckers up and take them with me.

It's hard to get a clear photo of small fish, I can see them clearly, but pictures are a different thing. But I'll let you know what the auction people say they are.

Thank you again.

I'm not seeing a tetra there.

There are some close relatives of the danios called devarios. That tiger stripe pattern is pretty common over in that end of the cyprinids. I'd guess its on of these guys…

Devario shanensis

There are also some barred danios. Its the right neighborhood anyway.

Wow, good catch, Carpguy ;)

Man, shorten the mouths on those things, put a first dorsal on them and fade the barring a lot and they look a lot like juvie Glossolepis genus rainbowfish.

The first set of pics had me saying, "possible". The second set "no way!". Lookit the size of that mouth on the one. Geez.

Roan

carpguy, the fish do look similar to that. They have a horizontal row of spot acrossed their center (lateral line), and the spots may form a solid line between the anal fin and caudal fin (again at lateral line level).

They resemble Devario maetaengensis too, from http://www.danios.info/Contents/species/danio17.asp ("new" species)

sorry. i didn't realize those were two different fish that carpguy showed, and that he already listed one of the ones i just did.
