I purchased these guys from my LFS a few days ago and I LOVE them they are awome I origonally thought tey were black neon tetras but I bought some of those and they dont look anything at all like the original fish. My only other thought was a lemon tetra but they dont share too many similarities.

Thanks for your help!

I saw some just like that at a local PetsMart yesterday evening. I believe the label said the were "Golden Tetras". Of course, I don't put much faith in what PetsMart calls their fish being their actual name, though. :)

To me it looks like Long Finned Characin (Brycinus longipnnis) but its hard to tell if there's a back stripe on the base of the tale. Otherwise my guess would be the lemon tetra (Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis), though I don't know why petsmart would rename them honey tetras. Again, hard to tell from the pics, but the lemon has very translucent mid - tail section.

They are not Lemons, because they are not nearly that narrow. They (Lemons) have a taller body. After looking around online, your tetras sort of look like these - Silver tip tetras. If not them, my next guess would be Green Fire tetras.

Is it possible for you to go back to where you purchased your tetras, and see what they call them?

Those don't look a bit like my silvertips. The fins are different. If they weren't so thin they'd look a bit like diamonds...

Any more pics?

I think you're right on the money there in guessing that they are diamond tetras though it's difficult to tell because of the angle the photgraph was taken.
